ADVERTISING, COMMUNICATIONS
Elaine Ellis has been hired as account executive, and Lauren Preston has been hired as account coordinator for Metzger Associates, a public relations firm in Boulder. Ellis brings a variety of public relations experience ranging from nonprofits to Fortune 500 companies and has helped launch social media campaigns, blogs, viral video and social networking programs. Preston's experience includes positions at a number of Colorado PR agencies as a member of account teams where she developed skills in branding and marketing.
ARCHITECTURE, CONSTRUCTION
Anne Olson, owner of Olson Architecture Inc. in Niwot, has received a Certified Active Adult Specialist in Housing designation from the National Association of Home Builders. The designation represents cumulative experience in the active adult housing industry.
Alicia Ajayi has been hired as an intern architect for VaST architecture, a Boulder firm. She is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder's environmental design program.
BANKING
First Community Bank has named Lisa Gouran as branch manager of its branch in Broomfield, located at 57720 W. 120th Ave. Gouran will be responsible for business development, overall branch operations and ensuring the branch delivers personalized customer service. Most recently, she was a branch services manager for Guaranty Bank & Trust Co. in Broomfield. Prior to that, Gouran was location manager, associate vice president with Wells Fargo in Boulder.
BIOSCIENCE
ARCA biopharma Inc., a biopharmaceutical company based in Broomfield, has appointed Dr. William R. Hiatt to guide the development of its leading drug candidate to treat heart disease. In this newly created position, Hiatt will be responsible for developing strategic regulatory and clinical initiatives designed to support Gencaro, a beta-blocker and mild vasodilator in late-stage development for heart failure, as well as other compounds in ARCA's pipeline.
HEALTH CARE
Boulder-based Golden West named Emily Whitsett-Pickett its new operations manager for the Mezzanine, assisted living apartments, and Jill Moore as the resident programs manager for the overall campus. Pickett is responsible overseeing the staffing and all aspects of the assisted-living community. Moore is responsible for overseeing the wellness and recreational programming for the Towers, independent apartments, Flatirons Terrace, new independent apartments, and the Mezzanine, assisted living.
nSpire Health, a Longmont-based medical products company, announced the appointment of Dr. Robert Crapo as chairman of its scientific and medical advisory board. Crapo has served on the National Heart and Lung's Asthma Clinical Research Network Protocol Review Committee, has been a member of the American Thoracic Society Committee on proficiency standards for clinical pulmonary laboratories since 1983 until recently, and chaired the committee since 1993.
HIGH TECH
Aztek Networks, a Boulder-based software company, appointed John Kelley to the company's board of directors. Kelley served as president and chief executive officer of Broomfield-based McData Corp., which was purchased by Brocade Communications Systems Inc. in 2007.
Ronggui Yang, assistant professor of mechanical engineering at the University of Colorado at Boulder, has been named one of the world's top 35 young innovators in the September/October issue of Technology Review, a magazine published by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Yang, 34, works in the areas of micro- and nanotechnology for energy conversion, thermal management in electronic devices and nanostructured materials.
Steve Holton has been appointed senior vice president of North American sales and field operations for Webroot Software Inc., a security software company based in Boulder. He will help accelerate adoption of Webroot's SaaS products.
LAW
David W. Marks has been appointed marketing manager for Caplan & Earnest LLC, a Boulder-based law firm.
TELECOMMUNICATIONS
Broomfield-based Copper Conferencing, a provider of teleconferencing services, hired James Flynn as director of sales, Christina Wafford as chief financial officer and Alycia Maier-Turner as director of marketing.
OTHER
Gary Wickett has been appointed vice president of Transformance Advisors, a Boulder-based management consulting firm specializing in lean supply chains. Gary directed the lean integration office for StorageTek and Sun Microsystems and helped develop the online lean six sigma program for Villanova.
